Privacy Policy
What happens to the information you share
This page explains, in plain English, what this website collects, why, and what happens to it. If anything here is unclear, email me and I'll answer it directly.
What I Collect
When you send the contact form: whatever you type into it - your name and email address, plus anything else you choose to answer, like your phone number, zip code, or details about your project. Along with it, I store the IP address the message came from, which helps me spot and block spam.
When you browse: an anonymous visit counter. A cookie with a random ID, which expires after 30 minutes without activity, lets me group the pages you view into one visit. It doesn't contain your name or anything else that identifies you, and I don't store your IP address with it.
Google Analytics shows me which pages people visit and how they found the site, using its own cookies. Google reCAPTCHA, the "I'm not a robot" checkbox on the contact form, checks that a real person is sending it. Both are run by Google, under Google's privacy policy.
One more cookie keeps the contact form secure by confirming it's really being sent from this site. It holds no personal information.
Why I Collect It
To reply to your inquiry, to keep spam out, and to understand how people use the site so I can improve it. That's all.
Who Sees It
Your information is never sold or shared. The only outside services that handle it are the ones that run this site: Render, which hosts it; my email provider, which delivers your message to me; and Google, for Analytics and reCAPTCHA.
How Long I Keep It
If your inquiry doesn't turn into a project, I delete it after one year. If we do work together, I keep your records for the life of the project.
Your Choices
You can ask me for a copy of the information I have about you, or ask me to delete it, by emailing michael@mc-innovates.com.
You can block or clear cookies in your browser's settings. The site still works without them, though the contact form needs its security cookie to send. To opt out of Google Analytics on every site you visit, Google offers a browser add-on.
